Owls Win Fourth Straight to Close Out Regular Season

The Prince George's Community College men's soccer team closed out the 2024 regular season the same way they kicked it off nearly two months prior with a win on their home field. The Owls scored a goal each in each half and kept Cecil College off the board for 90 minutes to secure a 2-0 victory.

Perez Hengoue broke the tie in the 34th minute, finishing a penalty kick which was just the Owls second PK attempt of the season and first to be successful. After a quick halftime celebration of the team's six sophomores, Prince George's Zico Tesheira tallied his 17th goal of the year in the 54th off the assist by Jerson Chirino.

The Owls defense once again held strong down the stretch en route to earning their fourth consecutive shutout win. The last time an opponent scored on the Owls was four weeks prior when nationally ranked Division I Montgomery College beat the Owls. Freshman goalkeeper Jairo Caceres has kept a clean sheet ever since and has his team on a 4-0-1 run as they enter the postseason which begins with a first-round game in Largo on Thursday, October 24th at 5 PM.

The Owls secured the #2 seed in the Region 20 DII Tournament with a 7-1-2 division record and await the last few region games to see which program secures the #7 seed and will head to Largo on the 24th to challenge Prince George's. The tournament semi-finals and championship games will be played at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold, MD on October 30th and November 2nd, respectively.
