Owls Stumble on the Road Against CCBC Essex

The Prince George's Community College men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday, August 29th, falling to the NJCAA's 4th ranked program, CCBC Essex, by a final score of 4-0.

Prince George's matched up well with the Knights in the first half and despite allowing a goal in the 17th minute, the Owls managed to lead the two teams in shots with 9 compared to CCBC's 7, forcing the Knights goalkeeper to make 4 saves through the first 45 minutes. The Owls also created more corner kicks in the half with 7 compared to only 2 for the Knights.

After a quick 5-minute halftime due to impending weather in the area, the Owls played physically as they tried to even the score but had troubles with fouls as they picked up three yellow cards in the second half. Essex capitalized on a penalty kick in the 77th minute before tacking on two more in the 82nd minute just 30 seconds apart to seal the loss for Prince George's.

The Owls return to the nest next week for a pair of home games beginning with Carroll Community College on Tuesday, September 3rd at 5 PM.
