NBA Day at PGCC: A Community Celebration of Hoops, History & Higher Learning
Washington, D.C. (September 25, 2025) – NBC4 and Telemundo 44 Washington, the Washington Wizards, and Prince George's Community College (PGCC) are partnering to celebrate this season's return of the NBA on NBC and debut on Peacock by hosting an NBA Day community event at PGCC's Novak Field House in Largo, Maryland, on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., with doors opening at 3 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
NBA Day will be a family-friendly celebration to provide attendees with basketball-themed entertainment, experiences, activities and educational opportunities. The festivities will include games and activities, highlighted by a youth basketball skills clinic hosted by the Wizards Youth Basketball staff. Current Owl men's and women's basketball student-athletes will be involved in the instruction of the clinic and will participate in a dunk contest as well as one lucky student who will be chosen for a 1-on-1 against a former Wizards player.
William West, Athletics Director at PGCC shared, "As a lifelong basketball fan, I remember growing up watching the classics on NBC - the Knicks, Bulls, Lakers, and so many all-time greats. Everyone around my age knows the NBA on NBC theme song. To now bring that NBA legacy to our campus is an incredible full-circle moment. It's exciting for our students, our community, and for anyone who loves the game."
NBA Day will feature appearances by Wizards players Bub Carrington, Alex Sarr, Bilal Coulibaly and Kyshawn George. Wizards alumni, dancers, mascots, and entertainment team members will also participate in the event, with entertainment provided by a Wizards in-arena host and DJs, the PGCC jazz band, and other musicians and performers. Food will be available for purchase.
"We are thrilled to partner with NBC4, Telemundo 44, and the Washington Wizards for NBA Day at PGCC, an event that unites our community and showcases the College as a place where education, culture, and opportunity meet—a true slam dunk that combines the spirit of the game with the power of learning," Dr. Falecia D. Williams, President, Prince George's Community College, said.
NBC4 and Telemundo 44 will provide onsite coverage of NBA Day across the stations' TV, streaming and digital platforms, including live reports during evening newscasts. News4 weekend morning anchor and community reporter Molette Green and News4 chief meteorologist Doug Kammerer will report live and conduct interactive segments from Novak Field House throughout the event.
