Devin May Tabbed WBCA Region 20 Coach of the Year
Prince George's Community College's women's basketball head coach Devin May has been named the 2024-25 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Region 20 Coach of the Year, it was announced recently.
May wrapped up his fourth season at the helm of the Lady Owls in 2024-25, concluding with a 20-5 overall record which included the #2 seed in the region tournament where the Owls finished as runners-up in the program's first year back competing at the Division II level since the 2010-11 season. Two Owls were named to the All-Tournament Team: sophomore guard Tamia Washington and freshman Kryslynn Stewart. Both Washington (First Team) and Stewart (Second Team) were also named All-Region for their efforts on the year along with freshman Nia Grymes (Honorable Mention). Prince George's three selections were tied for the most among the region 20.
All five of the Owls losses this past year came against nationally ranked opponents, four of which came on the road and were versus top 5 programs in the NJCAA's weekly rankings. Prince George's received their own national recognition late in February when they received votes in the national poll riding a 4-game winning streak headed into the postseason.
With another season now under his belt, May has his eyes set on returning to the National Tournament in 2025-26 for the fourth time in five seasons, and first time at the DII level.
