Men’s Basketball Falls to WVU Potomac State

The Prince George's Community College men's basketball team dropped their matchup at home against WVU Potomac State on Saturday, falling to the Catamounts, 88-70, to drop to 8-6 on the year.

The Owls entered halftime trailing by just two points, 35-33, after allowing a basket just before the end of the half. Jailin Landis led the Owls in scoring at the break with 12 points to go with 2 rebounds.

Jaylen Judge hit a three early in the second half to give the lead back to the Owls, 41-39, at the 17:25 mark. The Catamounts responded with a three of their own to reclaim the lead, and the Owls were unable to take control the remainder of the game. Prince George's climbed back to within just a few points at several times throughout the second half but were unable to even the score. The Owls looked ready to make one final push when Lynn King III hit a layup at the 3:05 mark to ring the score to 76-70, but Potomac State shut out Prince George's 12-0 over the final minutes to deal the Owls their first loss of the new year. 

Landis finished as the Owls leading scorer with 22 points on 9-of-11 (82%) shooting from the floor. King III ended with 14 points while grabbing 6 boards. Casheus Covington also finished in double digits, scoring 10 points while collecting 5 rebounds and dishing out 5 assists.

Prince George's is back at it on Friday, January 24th when they travel across the Bay Bridge to play Chesapeake College at 7 PM.
