Owls Drop First Of The Season To RCSJ

The number 13 ranked Owls Women's Basketball team lost their first game of the season on Tuesday night in Novak Field House against Rowan College of South Jersey – Gloucester. The Roadrunners, who received votes in this past week's Division III rankings, came back in the second half to beat Prince George's by a final score of 56-45.

The Owls held the Roadrunners to just three points in the first period as RCSJ hit only 1 of 17 shots from the floor. Prince George's wasn't able to shoot much better, connecting on 4 of 17 from the floor to build a 10-3 lead entering the second period. A much closer contest in the second period saw the Roadrunners begin to find their rhythm as they outscored the Owls 16-14. Freshman Vanessa Schwarzmann exited early in the second quarter due to injury and did not return for the Owls. Prince George's entered halftime holding onto a 24-19 lead.

The Roadrunners outscored the Owls in the final two periods, 37-21 to hand Prince George's their first loss of the season. The Owls were led by double-double performances from both Tori Tolson (11 points, 10 rebounds) and Janiah Williams (10 points, 10 rebounds).

Prince George's returns to Novak Field House this Friday, November 19^th to take on Anne Arundel Community College for a Region 20 Division matchup. The contest will be a rematch of the 2019-20 Region 20 Championship which took place in Youngwood, Pennsylvania. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 PM.
