opening jog… The Prince George's track and field team heads right down the road to Bowie, Md., for the Bowie State Bulldog Classic on Saturday. The Owls will be competing with Bowie State, Coppin State, Lincoln and four club programs on the afternoon.
last time out… The quartet of Druex Collins, Mary Foday, Hannah White and Ashley Wilson teamed up to win the 4x100m relay to pace the Prince George's Community College women's track and field team in its season opening competition at the Frostburg State Bobcat Invitational on Saturday. The four women won the 4x100m relay with a time of 51.59 to win the event by 0.34 seconds over host Frostburg State. The quartet also finished second in the 4x400m relay with a time of 4:20.83. Foday and Collins posted second-place standings on the afternoon. Foday placed second in the 100m dash with a time of 12.54 while Collins was second in the 200m dash with a time of 28.02. Nisheil Forbes finished second in the long jump with a leap of 4.61m while Ashley Wilson placed third in the triple jump (9.89m) and sixth in the long jump (4.34m), and White placed fourth in the 100m dash (13.70). On the men's side, Ari Wilson and the 4x400m relay paced the Owls with third-place standings. Ari Wilson placed third in the 200m dash with a time of 23.18 while Wilson, Baladji Diakite, Tommy Hunt III and Christy-Morel Andjalepou teamed up to finish third in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3.38.46. Diatkite posted a 10th-place standing in the 200m dash (24.14).
next run… Prince George's returns to action at the Captains Classic and Combined Events hosted by Christopher Newport on Apr. 14-15.
the roster… Head coach Richard Johnson has compiled a roster of 10 athletes, including returners Druex Collins and Nisheil Forbes on the women's side.
recapping last year… The Owls women's track and field team finished as the NJCAA National Runners-Up in Division III last year.
about the coach… Head coach Richard Johnson begins his ninth season as head coach of the track and field program. He has led the women's track and field program to NJCAA National Runners-Up in 2016 and Region XX Runners Up in 2009 while the 2010 men's track and field team won the Region XX title.
