Men's Soccer downs NOVA

The Owls men had a strong showing on Friday with a 4-1 home victory over NOVA. This was the Owls first conference win in three attempts has they continue to push for one of the top seeds in the conference.

Mecardo Knight evened the score at one a piece after NOVA opened the scoring early in the first half. His goal came after great individual work by Ramario Chapman who had the presence of mind to find Knight inside the box.

This momentum carried into the second half and Rodrigo Hernandez was able to score his first of the season with a calm finish into the side netting from a George Afakpe pass. Afakpe was later credited with his second assist of the game, after he made a strong run down the left side and passed to Knight who scored his second goal of the game. Joe Njume finalized the scoring late with his first of the season to give the Owls the 4-1 victory.

The Owls will travel to play Howard Community College on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 4:00 PM. This will be another conference show down has both teams will battle in hopes of capturing the second seeding and a first round bye in the conference playoffs.
