New Additions to Athletic Department

New Additions to Athletic Department

The athletic department would like to welcome Tiona Harris and Machel Millwood as our newest team members. Both Ms. Harris and Mr. Millwood are Prince George’s Community College alumni.  Ms. Harris was a member of the 2001-02 and 2002-03 women’s basketball team.  She transferred to Bluefield State and earned a Bachelor of Science degree.  Ms. Harris stated “I am excited to help our student athletes achieve their academic goals and look forward to building the women’s basketball team into a national contender.”

Ms. Harris is taking on the role of Athletic Success Coordinator. She will be overseeing and coordinating all student athletes’ study hall, tutoring, academic progress, tracking, and advisement. Her position was designed to support the philosophy and mission of the college, while promoting the educational welfare and sportsmanship of the student-athlete. Ms. Harris will work in tandem with staff, coaches, and student-athletes to achieve departmental and academic goals. In addition, Ms. Harris will be continuing her role as the women’s head basketball coach. She has held this position for the past 4 years, while leading the team to the Region XX DIII Tournament each year.

The department would also like to introduce Machel Millwood as the Sports Information Specialist. Mr. Millwood is an NJCAA Men’s Soccer All American and played for Prince George's Community College in 1998-99 and 1999-2000.  He currently holds the college record for most goals scored in a season with 40.    “I am happy to rejoin the college and hope to increase awareness of our athletic programs.  Athletics provided me an opportunity to earn a scholarship and a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University in route to fulfilling my dream of playing professionally” stated Millwood.

Mr. Millwood comes to us with a wealth of experience gained from working with different sports programs over the last few years. In these positions, he identified opportunities for improvement, made constructive suggestions for change and helped brainstorm solutions. He will be tasked with performing a variety of public information functions including the publicity and promotion of the college athletic programs. He will also serve as a spokesman for the department while coordinating information released to the press and the broadcast media. In addition, Mr. Millwood is looking forward to assist with the Owls men soccer program for this upcoming season.
